Worship Folders Ready!

Just a quick note... I will have all the worship planned out and prepared for you to pick up one week out. That means if you are scheduled to play on the next Sunday, you can pick up your worship folder in my office on the Sunday before. In the folder you will find the sheet music, order, and a CD with the songs that we will be playing.

This will give you the opportunity to listen to the music, play the songs, and come a little more prepared to rehearsal. Please don't let this resource go to waste. I am doing this to make us a better band/musicians. We have such an important role come Sunday morning. Everyone who is playing that week needs to pick up there folder and CD and listen to them and play through them at least once. Unless your Josh or Seth, you guys only get a CD to listen to and play with.

Worship can be such a powerful thing when everything comes together. This is my hope and my prayer... that people will be moved closer to the Lord through worship to hear what God has to say to them and maybe, just maybe we will walk out of here a little bit different. Changed!

We are Leading People to Life Change!

Holiday Schedule

Christmas and New Year's have fallen on mid-days this year so that changes our rehearsal schedule. Here is the rehearsal schedule for the next couple of weeks.

Christmas Eve Rehearsal is on the preceeding Tuesday (Dec. 23) @ 6pm. Plan for a couple of hours.

Sunday, December 28th we will be rehearsing that Sunday morning at 7:30am.

New Year's Eve there is no rehearsal or Journey.

Sunday, January 4th we will be rehearing that Sunday morning at 7:30am.

Then we can get back into our routine of rehearsal's on Wednesday nights at 8pm.

That should be it. I love my team. You all are amazing!

Rehearsal Schedule...

Hey everyone... got iced in today and have not been able to access my email account or address book. So I thought I would update the blog with the hope that some of you might check it to see what the schedule is.

Band rehearsal tomorrow night (Tuesday, Dec. 16th) at 6pm sharp. We will practice for an hour the normal set for Christmas Eve. The song include... Silver Bells, Silent Night/Away in a Manger, What Child is This, O Holy Night, and Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas. We have done most of those songs and they are all fairly simple. I don't think we will have problem rehearsing them in an hour.

Then the following Tuesday, we will work on TSO's Christmas/Sarajevo. Same time, 6pm. Please reserve this time for rehearsing. I will have copies of the song this week for you all to pick up and listen to. If you have any questions email me or call me on my cell. Hope all is well and I'll talk to you all soon.

When One Hurts, We All Hurt

2 Corinthians 1:3-4 says, 'Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God.'

When one of us hurts, we all hurt! The truth is we all have hurts and pains and disappointments. That's what being a human being is. I don't know how unbeliever's do it. I don't know how they can get through life with out the hope we have in Jesus. Christine and I have been through some pain and hurt of our own in the past few years and I don't know that either one of us could have made it through with out the Lord. I'm not sure I could have made it through with out her! We both suffered significant loses in our lives. I lost my mom almost three years ago and not a day goes by that I don't miss her or think about her. That left a deep wound that only the Lord can heal and it takes time. Christine lost our first baby a little over two years ago. She is still hurting that loss. We as people hurt and that's okay. Because we serve a God that is greater than all things, that is the giver of life, and even as cliche' as it sounds, has the whole world in His hands.

My plea to all of you is this... love one another. Pray for one another. Cry with one another. Please be in prayer for Maria, Bryan and the whole Tenny family. We love you guys and I love you all.

From Reagan to Obama... Don Miller blog

This is a great article by Donald Miller. Here is a brief snippet from his blog...

"We didn’t like Bill Clinton. We listened to Rush Limbaugh, who told us not to think, that he would think for us, and so we bitterly groused against large government and our supposedly growing welfare state. He was a pro-choice candidate with a feminist wife who belittled women who only wanted to “stay home and make cookies.” Those were our women, we thought. And they made very good cookies." -Donald Miller

The Art of Serving...

I am so thankful that I serve with an amazing team. Everyone is flexible, willing to work, willing to sacrifice their valuable time for something so much bigger than we could ever imagine. 1 Peter 2:16 says, 'Live as servants of God.' We are called to something higher, something amazing, and something that we can't even begin to understand. We are called to serve. And it is a real art to serve. To put aside our own wants and needs for the needs of others! Jesus was the ultimate servant and He is our example to follow. Thank you all for the giving of yourself to others. Let me leave you with this quote from T.W. Manson, 'In the Kingdom of God, service is not a stepping-stone to nobility. It is nobility.'
